Let's talk about PRP and Regenerative Medicine.
Recently I got quite a few questions regarding the PRP treatments and their clinical relevance. Therefore, here is a short discussion on
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Regenerative Medicine
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment is becoming a popular option for giving a biological boost to the healing process. PRP is produced from a person's own plasma, and it is a concentration of one type of cell, known as platelets. Platelets and the liquid plasma portion contain many factors that are essential for the cell recruitment, multiplication and specialization that are required for healing.
The underlying scientific rationale for PRP therapy is that PRP treatment initiate tissue repair and restoration via the release of many biologically active factors such as: growth factors, cytokines, lysosomes. These active factors attract stem cells and promote healing and repair of a damage tissue through synthesis of new connective tissue (including collagen, elastin), and revascularization (formation of new blood vessels).
PRP therapies have been used in medicine for more than 30 years. In time, PRP treatments have increased in popularity and got widespread use in diverse medical fields such as: maxillofacial surgeries, sports injuries and orthopedic surgery, cardiac surgery, pediatric surgery, gynecology, urology, ophthalmology, and cosmetic surgery. One of the reasons is the PRP treatments speed the wound healing.
At Aesthetic Medical Center we are using PRP treatments for many years addressing concerns such as:
-
Facial, Neck and Decolletage Skin Rejuvenation,
-
Wound Healing,
-
Acne Scars
-
Melasma,
-
Alopecia (HAIR LOSS)
-
Pigmented Lesions
-
With Fat Grafting
In the area of Intimate (Sexual) Medicine, we use PRP therapy for a variety condition for Women and Men.
For women: Studies show that female sexual dysfunction is a common condition, with population estimates ranging from 22% to 43%. Female sexual dysfunctions include both psychogenic and organic causes of desire, arousal, orgasm, and sexual pain disorders. PRP treatments such as O-shot and / or Vaginal Rejuvenation can improve arousal, stronger orgasm, decreased dyspareunia, and increased natural lubrication. In addition, clinical data shows that women with Vulvar Dystrophy including Lichen Sclerosus have remarkable improvement after PRP treatments.
For Men: Statistics shows that roughly approximately 40% of men are affected at age 40 and nearly 70% of men are affected at age 70 by various degrees of erectile dysfunction (ED). PRP treatments known as the P-shot or Men’s Shot can help with ED condition. The treatment is easy, done in the office in less than 30 minutes, completely painless and with no downtime.

In conclusion:
1.Basic science studies show that PRP treatment may improve healing in many tissues. Platelets have been found to release around 35 growth factors that promote tissue regrowth, healing, and regeneration.
2. An important advantage of PRP treatment is its safety. PRP is an autologous product with no known adverse effects.
3. PRP is an outpatient procedure with no downtime.
